Most Unique Places In America
by captkujo.com

While the world is full of one of a kind and unusual places to travel to and visit, the United States has its share of memorable haunts. From restaurants to resorts, hotels to swimming pools, here is a list of what we believe are the most unique places in America.

Most Unique Hotel - Aurora Ice Museum - Chena Hot Springs, Alaska

We all know about the Ice Hotel in Sweden, well the US has its own (though technically they can't call themselves a hotel because they lack sprinklers). Though smaller than its Scandanavian counterpart, it doesn't give an inch on splendor, as it has been designed by ice sculpting champion Steve Brice. There's an indoor igloo, Coca Cola Bear, pulpit, ice bar, giant jousting sculpture and more. Visitors love the beautiful "fireplace" and Ice-Mass Tree. On the grounds there is also an outdoor hot spring and a place to take a ride on a dog sled.

Most Unique Swimming Pool - Joule Hotel - Dallas, Texas

Jutting out eight feet over the sidewalk ten stories up, the pool at the Joule Hotel in Dallas offers both swimmers and casual observers quite an interesting perspective. This aquatic gem is located in a five star complex designed by renowned architect, Adam D. Tihany.

Most Unique Restaurant - Lunch With an Astronaut - Kennedy Space Center, Florida

Not necessarily a restaurant, but a dining experience, Lunch With an Astronaut "gives visitors a one-of-a-kind experience to enjoy a delicious meal and meet a veteran member of NASA’s Astronaut Corps." Since the program’s inception in 2001, An impressive roster of astronauts have appeared to chat with everyday folks over lunch, among them Wally Schirra, John Glenn, Jim Lovell, Gene Cernan, Walt Cunningham, Story Musgrave and Jon McBride.

Most Unique Resort - Tall Timber Resort - Durango, CO

Talk about getting away from it all. This exclusive resort nestled in the stunning Colorado Rockies is so remote that the only way to get there is by helicopter or train. Open May-October, Tall Timber is a 260 acre guest ranch with many impressive buildings including the big lodge and the train depot and ten comfortable, homey, bi-level suites. But the most popular part of the resort by far is what they call Soaring Tree Top Adventures, an exciting zip line maze that winds through the 300 year old growth ponderosa pine canopy.

Most Unique Place To Take Kids - Discovery Cove - Orlando, Florida

No fair that Florida gets so many of the neat places, but here's another. Probably every kid who has seen a Sea World show has dreamed of being able to get in the water with the dolphins, well at Discovery Cove they can. With the help of trained dolphin adventure guides, guests can talk, touch, play and swim with bottlenose dolphins as well as thousands of tropical fish and even dozens of rays. There's also an underwater shark and barracuda tank located behind protective glass. The park also has over 250 tropical birds to experience and feed, including parrots, toucans, and over 30 other species of exotic birds.
