World's Smallest Fishing Trip
by captkujo.com
March 1, 2011

Ask any fisherman, they will tell you: hooking the "Big One" can be the trill of a lifetime. Same goes for hunters, surfers, paddlers, climbers--we are all trying to conquer the biggest and baddest. Sometimes overlooked in the quest to the top are the small things. They say big things come in small packages, so why not give it a try? Go with us on the world's smallest fishing trip.

To start out on our tiny trip, we need the world's smallest yacht, and Tom McNally's "The Bic C" is the perfect craft. Supposedly the smallest sea-worthy craft in existence, it measures in at a whopping 3 foot, 10 inches. McNally has plans to take the vessel on a trans-atlantic voyage soon.

For the smallest yacht, we need to embark from the smallest harbor, which happens to be Depoe Bay, Oregon. Located along famous Highway 101, the bay is a mere six-acres total.

Once we get to our favorite hole in our tiny boat out of our tiny harbor, next we need a tiny fishing pole. The pocket pen fishing rod and reel aka the Fish Pen will do just fine. The eight inch pen extends to three feet and comes with hooks, line, weights and bobbers.

And just what are we trying to catch in this, the world's smallest fishing trip? You guessed it, the world's smallest fish: Paedocypris progenetica. It's a member of the carp family, it is found in swamps in Indonesia, and its less than a third of an inch long.

You can't just eat the smallest fish on the planet, can you? Wouldn't even get stuck in your teeth. No, it has to go in what else but the world's smallest fishtank. Designed by Russian artist Anatoly Konenko, the tiny aquarium is just 30mm wide, 24mm high and 14 mm deep, big enough for about 2 tablespoons of water.

Thanks for going with us on our smallest fishing trip. Didn't take long, did it?
